General Event Information
Visit Somerville's Diverse + Vibrant Arts Community
Over 300 artists in over 100 venues will open their homes and studios for the 11th Annual Somerville Open Studios Event on Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3 2009 from noon to 6 pm.
During this free showcase for the arts, mid-career and emerging artists working across a broad spectrum of fine art styles and craft media will exhibit their work to the public.
Visitors to SOS will be treated to displays of art in both traditional and non-traditional spaces throughout the city. Come see how Somerville's artists and entrepreneurs have transformed garages, real estate agencies, salons, cocktail lounges, and churches into both impromptu and permanent art galleries.
Getting around
During the event Trolley service is available to help visitors get around. More information as it becomes available
2009 Artists' Choice Exhibit
April 17 through May 15 at The Somerville Museum
Opening Reception Thursday April 16, 6 - 9 pm
Stop by the Artists' Choice Exhibit at the Somerville Museum for a chance to view the work of many participating artists in a single location. With all SOS artists invited to select one piece to include this group exhibit, the show is an enjoyable and convenient way to help plan your SOS itinerary.
The exhibit will be on view during the Museum's regular hours. And if you don't have a chance to stop by beforehand, you can still get an early start on SOS weekend since the exhibit opens one hour earlier than artists' studios. See the full schedule of exhibit hours shown at right.
The Somerville Museum is located at the corner of Central Street and Westwood Road, two short blocks south of Highland Avenue [map]
